Ceramic Slab Series

Much like lathe turning and power carving, the shape of the piece can change in real time with thoughts and emotion. I began this series shortly after Covid as an evolution into this medium. My inspiration for these works stem from my love of global history, Art and cultures.

Lava Vase

I wanted to capture the beautiful colors and texture of moving and dried lava. To create the dried lava effect, the piece received over 1500 dimples that took what seemed like forever.

Gear Cut

Inspired by the gears and circular patterns of machined metal

during the Industrial Revolution, I wanted to capture these sometimes

fast moving parts and freeze them in time. The beauty of these machined parts has gone largely unnoticed as they were cast aside for more modern production lines.

My second Saggar fired piece.

It was this piece that inspired me to create the Slab Ceramic Series

consisting of larger statement pieces.
